Albert Watlington Obituary

Albert Daniel Watlington Jr. was born October 22, 1935, in Yanceyville, North Carolina to the late Albert and Willie Jo Watlington (Neal).  He was the eldest child and only son in the family. Albert was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Sadie Mae Watlington Rogers.

Albert lived a full life and retired from a career driving tractor-trailer trucks. His career also included being employed at Western Car Loading and Fredrickson Motorline in Greensboro, N.C.

Albert shared a deep and enduring love with Katherine Mims of Reidsville, North Carolina. Their journey together resulted in 67 years of devoted marriage. Katherine preceded Albert in death but their bond remained an inspiring testament to love and commitment.

Albert’s sharp wit and warm sense of humor gave him a remarkable ability to light up any room, leaving his family and friends smiling wherever he went. A man of impeccable style, he was known for his well-dressed, polished appearance, reflecting his deep pride and self-respect.

Before his health began to decline, Albert was always ready to lend a helping hand to others. He took immense pride in his home, ensuring it was a reflection of his dedication, hard work, and love for his family. Among his many joys, Albert enjoyed fishing greatly, savoring the peace and fulfillment that it brought him.

He leaves to mourn two sons, Reginald Watlington and Daryl Berry, both of Greensboro. Also son of heart, Dean Mims who preceded him in death. Two grandchildren, Andreka Watlington, Ashley Watlington Simms (Terrence) and four great grandchildren: Josiah, Terrence Jr., Harlyn and Jaylen, all of Greensboro. Special nieces, Euneika Rogers Sipp (Kevin) of Atlanta, GA, Renessa “Kay-Kay” Eaves of Eden, NC. Special Nephews, Morris Kershaw, David Mims, Jr. (Lillie), Walter Simpson and a host of other nieces and nephews that were dear to his heart. Also special friends, Billy Jeffers, Chris, LaWanda and Carolyn. Albert also leaves a host of family and friends who will remember him with love.
