Larry James Graves was born on February 19, 1956 and departed this life on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.  He was the son of Lawrence Graves and the late Mary Lucille Kindle Graves.

As a native and lifelong resident of High Point he attended Thomas Wingate Andrews High School.  His junior year he served as a page to Senator Lynwood Smith in the state senate.  After graduating he attended North Carolina Central University where he majored in Political Science. He was Vice President of Security Consultant Incorporated and was also employed at Sears Telemarketing for many years.  Larry was a loving father, son, brother and friend to many. He enjoyed sports and was a diehard Duke fan.

Surviving relatives include his father, Lawrence Graves; son, Jamal Graves; granddaughter, Taylyn Graves;  two sisters, Wanda Meekins and Juanita Cooper (Billy Ray); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Janet Lovette, Percy Caldwell, Constance Rogers, Kevin Dixon, Tony Gill, and Garrett Griffin; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12 noon, Friday, June 16, 2017 at Memorial United Methodist Church, 1327 Cedrow Drive.  Family visitation will be at the church 11:30 to noon.
