James Ewings, Jr.

James “JJ” Ewings, Jr., 87 transitioned on October 8, 2019 in New Jersey.  A former resident of High Point, he was born on December 1, 1931 to James Ewings, Sr. and Rosa D. Ewings.

In Addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Elmira LeGrande, Fanny Storr; and Manley LeGrande.

James received his early education in Guilford County and later joined the United States Army. He was known for his attention to detail, and for being very stylish and smart.  He enjoyed his family, playing tennis and was a huge boxing fan.

Survivors include sons, Roland Froneberger (Margaret), and Michael Ewings; daughters, Raynetta Jackson (Calvin), Florinda Smith (David), and Adrianne Hill; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, longtime friend and devoted caregiver, Denise Dent, a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, October 19th at the Chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point.  The family visitation will be from 11:30 to 12 at the chapel.
