Easter Alford Obituary

Easter Mae Emanuel Alford, daughter of Sam and Ella Zimmerman Emanuel, was born October 31, 1929 in Bennettsville, S.C.  She departed this life on September 1, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC.

She was affectively known to family and friends as “Gams”, “Baby D” and “Mother Gams”. She loved the Lord and her church family. She attended Faith and Victory Ministries in Greensboro, N.C.

Easter attended and graduated from the Marlboro County Schools in Bennettsville, SC. She was employed by various companies: Silver Knit Hosiery Mill, and Flyback Hosiery Mill, before retiring from High Point Regional Hospital.

She was always up for a good conversation and her laughter, happy conversations, and her sweet warm spirit will be missed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David Alford Sr.; brothers, Charles Emanuel, and Samuel Emanuel.

She leaves to cherish loving memories 6 children; Mary Harper(Carl) of Pleasant Garden,  Elizabeth Staton (Alfred) of Greensboro, Lonnell Alford (Retha) High Point, Lula Farabee (Walter) of Thomasville, Emma Dennis (Gregory) Winston Salem, and Davis Alford; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grands, 1 great-great grand;  uncle, Tanny Wright Sr.; 4 Sisters-in-law all of Bennettsville, S.C.; Margaret Emanuel, Bessie Smith, Louise Sinkler, Letha Mae Cantey, and Adelle Freeney of Syracuse, NY. One special Daughter, Patricia Christian; One special son, Thurman Lilly; a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, September 7th, at Love and Faith Christian Fellowship, 4344 Blackberry Rd., Greensboro.  Burial will follow at Floral Gardens Memorial Park.  Family visitation will be 12 to 12:30pm at the church on Friday and other times at Lonnell's home, 4439 Garden Club St.  .
