Blake Carter Obituary

Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit”

~Ecclesiastes 7:8~

Mr. Blake Lee Carter, age 25, transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday April 7, 2019, at Duke Medical Center in Durham North Carolina, following an extended illness.  Blake was born April 28, 1993 to Rodrick L. Carter and Laura M. Martin in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He graduated from Reynolds High School June 2011.

Blake’s faith was inspired by his favorite song, “Long as I got King Jesus” and he professed his love of God by desiring to be baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age.

Blake made music amid his misfortunate circumstances that inspired many, caressed the meek, enthused the lonely and spoke to friendless.

He is preceded in death by his Paternal Great Grandmother Cora L. Carter, Paternal Grandmother Carol A. Carter; Maternal grandmother Yvonne Marie Young Martin; Maternal grandfather Dan W. Martin; and many others who served as his “great clouds of witnesses who inspired his walk-in life.

Left to celebrate his story and cherish his life are his parents, Rodrick Carter, Laura Carter; his sister, CarolAnn Marie Carter; Paternal Grandfather Melvin Cooper and a host of aunts, uncles’ cousins and loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held on 12 noon, Thursday, April 18,2019 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 916 E. 12th Street, Winston-Salem, NC.  Burial will follow at Piedmont Memorial Gardens, Winston-Salem.  The family will receive visitors and friends from 11 to 12 noon at the church on Thursday.
