Stokesdale

Ms. Alta May Warren Simmons, 88 of Stokesdale, NC answered her heavenly call on Thursday, August 31, 2017 while at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Alta May was born on August 27, 1929 to Thomas Warren, Sr and Bertha Poindexter Warren in Oak Ridge, NC who precedes her in death.

Alta May came to know Christ at an early age and exemplified His love through her daily living. Her trust and faith in God was very strong insomuch that you never heard her complain about anything her favorite saying was me and the Good Master. Alta completed her education at Laughlin High School in Summerfield N.C. She was a longtime member of the Warrensville Church of God later named Stokesdale Church of God. A lifelong resident of Guilford County she was a dedicated employee of Cone Mills in Greensboro NC, also Stokesdale Drycleaners for several years in her leisure, Alta May found great joy in doing her favorite Bible crossword puzzles.

Alta May was preceded in death by Henderson Simmons Husband, daughter, Donna Simmons; three brothers, Ernest Warren, Odell Warren, and Thomas Warren, Jr.; and one sister, Doretha Martin.

Left to cherish her precious memory, her daughter, Kay Simmons of the home; brother, Andrew G. Warren, Sr. of CA; sister, Olivia Martin of PA; one granddaughter; six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Stokesdale Church of God, 9801 US HWY 158.  The family will receive visitors and friends on Saturday at the church 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
