Priscilla Brown Obituary

On February 28, 2024, Priscilla Mae Bostic Brown passed away peacefully at the age of 84 after a brief illness at Atrium Care Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. She deeply cared for her family, friends, neighbors, and anyone she met - not out of obligation, but out of love because that's who she was. She was always the first one to help, and the nurse in her allowed her to care for not just the sick but also those who were completely well. She loved her family, her church family and everyone!

Priscilla was born on July 22, 1939, in High Point, North Carolina, to Pauline Elizabeth McCaulay Bostic and Robert Odell Bostic Sr. She graduated from William Penn High School in 1954 and later became a nurse at High Point Memorial Hospital, where she worked for 45 years. Priscilla loved her job and worked on the same unit for her entire career.

Priscilla was a dedicated and loyal member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. She faithfully attended the church for more than 70 years, and it had been her only church home since childhood. Priscilla was a committed Sunday school teacher and initiated the "Girls on the Move" group at the church. She eagerly looked forward to organizing the annual visit to the barn dinner theater each year.

Priscilla had a tradition of reaching out to all her family members and friends to sing her infamous birthday song. She would call everyone she knew for every birthday and sing the song to them. Priscilla enjoyed having a good time, laughing, spending time with her family and friends, and enjoying life. She was affectionately known as Prissy, Cilla, and Aunt Cilla and would respond to any of these names with all the love, care, and concern one could ever want or imagine. Although Priscilla has now passed away, she has taken her rightful place with her mother, her husband, and all the family and friends who have gone before her. She will be truly missed here on earth.

Priscilla did not remarry after her husband Howard passed away, who passed away 46 years before her.

She is survived by her daughter, Jamiss Bostic, granddaughter, April Bostic, and great-granddaughter, Journee. Priscilla also leaves behind her nieces, Toni Bostic Johnson and Wendy Powell Watkins, who are like daughters to her. She is survived by her sisters, Yvonne Short (Merritt), Faye Bostic, and Sharon Powell, and her brothers Warren Bostic, Charles Bostic (Gloria), and Terry Bostic. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Her cherished goddaughter, Cynthia Boyce Steed, also survives her. Priscilla had a lifelong friend, Ruth Sibert, whom she considered more like a sister. Ruth and Priscilla were close friends for over 80 years. Also left to mourn is her "Boy," Aramis Watkins, DJ Double A, whom she adored. Furthermore, Merritt Short III, fondly known as "Pinky," was the son she never had but always loved!

A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 401 Wise Avenue, High Point.  The family will receive visitors and friends from 11:00am to 12 noon.  The funeral will begin at 12 noon.  Burial will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown.
