Doris (Adams) Johnson

Mrs. Doris Cene Johnson, daughter of the now late Gracie Lee Thornton, was born on November 20 1945 in Caswell County. Mrs Johnson departed this life on April 8 2024 at UNC Rockingham nursing center.

She was a native and life long resident of Rockingham County where she attended Booker T Washington in Reidsville, NC and received her GED. Later on she received her diploma at Cornerstone Christian Correspondence School. 

She was a former employee and teacher at Lelias's Tender Care where she taught the younger kids. She became a faithful member of Jerusalem United Holy Church at an early age. She attended Sunday School regularly, Bible Study and also sung in the Women's Choir until her health declined. 

Mrs. Johnson was a wonderful, loving, beautiful, sweet, spirit, wife and mother. She would do anything and everything for anyone whether she knew you or not; you became family. She loved spending time with her family playing spades, tonk and solitaire, cooking, baking, and going to yard sales.

In addition to her mother, her husband, Ernest Johnson Jr.; brother, Tom Neal, and daughter, Gracie Lee Johnson Price preceded her in death.

Ernest Rico Johnson (Stacey), Tyrone A Johnson, Irene Renne Johnson, Tonya Denice Gunter (Timothy), Samuel Dewayne Johnson (Lisa); 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be given at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, April13, 2024 at Conerstone Baptist Church, 516 N. Scales St., Reidsville, NC.  The family will receive visitors and friends at the church on Saturday from 1:30 to 2pm.  Public viewing will be at the church from 1 to 6pm on Friday.
