Ray Butler, 93, died Monday. May 29, 2017 at High Point Regional Hospital. Ray was born on February 2, 1924 to David Butler and Carrie Freeman Butler in Randolph County. He had been a hardworking man all of his life. Early in his life he worked at a saw mill, at a Quarter horse farm and also enjoyed gardening. In the mid seventies, he went to work for Dixie Container until he retired. He helped establish Lee's Industries and worked there for over thirty years. He also preached at Baldwin's Chapel SDA Church for several years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wives, Beatrice Price Butler, and Mildred A. Butler; siblings, Paul, Gerald, Charlie, Jack, Mellie, Bertha, Agnes, Nellie, Mary, and Ollie Mae.
Surviving relatives include sons, Rayford Butler (Margrette), Lonnie Butler (Lisa), and Ricky Butler all of High Point; daughters, Virginia Montaque, Linda Boyd, Rose Gainey (Jessie) all of High Point, and Lucille Michaels (Frenchie) of Greensboro; brother, David Earl Butler; sister, Willie McGruger; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00am, Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Baldwin's Chapel SDA Church, 1200 Leonard Ave. Visitation will be 10:30am to 11:00 at the church on Monday. Burial will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park.
