Mr. Oliver Zimmerman was born on February 5, 1944 in Wilmington Delaware to Peggy R. Jones and Willie Zimmerman.
Oliver was raised by Kate and Dean Zimmerman, Sr. in Bennettsville, South Carolina. He was a sibling of twelve with nine foster siblings. He grew up in humble beginnings in South Carolina and later, as a young adult, moved to New York, New York. He worked odd jobs doing painting and construction until he returned to High Point. Oliver loved his family and always tried to make sure they were okay. He had a great love for cooking, music, dancing, and was very fond of animals.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Davis Zimmerman; siblings, Charles Zimmerman, Annie Pearl Jones, Tracy Wallace-Jones, John Zimmerman, James Zimmerman, Dean Zimmerman, Jr., Haywood Zimmerman, Katie Dockery, Dorothy Allen, Christine Caldwell, and Cora Miller.
Surviving relatives include his children, Jason and Jacqueline Zimmerman; a granddaughter, Shaniya Kindle; siblings, Elouise Brown, Mary Blake Jones, Sandra Matthews, Norman Jr. Clay, Walter, Yvette, Renee and Reginald all of Wilmington, Gloria (George) Christian, and Nancy Zimmerman of High Point; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 12 noon at the Chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point, NC.
