Randleman - Ms. Minnie Elizabeth Hayes (Joan) went home to be with the Lord, on Sunday morning September 3, 2017 at Hospice House of Randolph County, Asheboro, North Carolina.
Minnie was born December 5, 1934 in Randolph County to Henry Clay and Nora Evans Hayes who precedes her in death. She was a retiree of the Commonwealth Hosiery Mill in Randleman. Minnie enjoyed her many years of retirement doing whatever she felt like doing.
She was a faithful member of the Harshaw Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the President of the Gospel Choir for over forty years. She also was a member of the Senior Missionary Circle, Pastor’s Aide, Usher Board, Mime Ministry and was one of the original Golden Girls of Harshaw Grove.
Minnie leaves to cherish her memories, three children Bruce A Hayes of the home, Sylvia H. Monroe (Bernard) of Charlotte, North Carolina and James R. Hayes of Greensboro, North Carolina; two Grandchildren Quentin L. Monroe and Aminah Laughlin; four great grandchildren; one brother, Henry A. Hayes (Lois); one sister, Mary E. Thigpen (Raleigh) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 from the Harshaw Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3840 Bowman Road, Randleman, NC 27317. The family visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harshaw Grove Missionary Baptist Church Gospel Choir.
