Annie Bell Gaines Crawford was born to John Madison Gaines, Sr. and Martha Covington Gaines on April 4, 1932 in Rockingham, North Carolina. Annie peacefully departed this life on October 16, 2017 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Seven children were born out of three loving matrimonies. In March 1964 she met and married Judson Crawford. They shared 47 years of love and raising their family until his departure in January 2012. While living in New Jersey she went back to school for nursing. She attended class during the day and worked nights. She enjoyed her nursing career and later retired with her husband to his hometown in Waynesboro, Georgia. She enjoyed being a substitute teacher with the Burke County school system. She enjoyed her large family of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially loved a game of chance – whether it was bingo, slot machines, bid whist or playing “the numbers”. 

Annie provided her family the full capacity of her love and wisdom. When she couldn't remember faces or places, she never forgot to tell anyone who would listen, she loved her children. That love will continue to grow throughout the generations and will forever be missed. 

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Judson Crawford; son, Ray Eugene Ingram; daughter Robbie Ann Lloyd; granddaughter Annjanette Lloyd and grandson Robbie Lloyd; brother, John Madison Gaines, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are Marilynn Ingram DeBerry (Fred), Annetta Gaines, John Ingram (Danielle), Roosevelt Nicholson, Jr., Martha Chapman, one brother Marshall Gaines (Christina) and one sister Teresa Vicki Gaines; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of dear friends. 

A Service of Remembrance will be 11:30 am, Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Chapel of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 206 Fourth Street, High Point.  The family will receive visitors and friends from 11 to 11:30 am at the Chapel.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Greensboro.
